Glazing Options
West Coast Windows offers several glazing options to meet requirements for energy efficiency, climate, security, safety, noise reduction and budget.
Clear Glass has traditionally been the choice for windows. We design clear glass windows, but with the development of improved glazing to help control heat loss and condensation, we recommend Low E glass.
Low Emissivity Glass (Low-E) delivers the ultimate in performance and clarity. We offer the Cardinal LoE3 glass, which adds a third coating to provide the ideal balance of solar control and energy savings.
Tempered Glass is extremely strong and often used for its safety characteristics because on impact it shatters into small pieces. Tempered glass reduces the likelihood of injury in the event of breakage in applications like patio doors, side lites, and bathroom enclosures for showers and tubs.
Laminated Glass is highly effective in reducing noise. It also eliminates 99.9% of ultraviolet rays, providing the highest degree of UV protection for home furnishings, carpets and drapes.
Obscure Glass provides the ultimate in privacy while still allowing abundant light into a room. It is used in applications like bathroom windows, offices and other areas where privacy is required.
Tinted Glass is a transparent plastic film or metallic laminate which is applied to glass windows to give privacy and insulation from the sun. Because window film is applied to finished glass, it is easier to install and less costly than chemically altered specialty glass. Tinted glass costs a little more than regular windows, but can reduce energy loss by as much as 30-50%.
Divided Lites create unique patterns and dynamic reflections of light. Simulated Divided Lites (SDLs), available in all of our collections, are permanently adhered to the interior and exterior of the window, creating the luxurious feel of individual glass lites through the use of externally applied grilles and pewter full.
SDLs can be used to achieve the classic beauty of a heritage look or the bold styling of a modern design.
Muntins are light vertical or horizontal bars, used to separate glass in a sash into multiple lights. They are also called window pane dividers or grilles. They create unique patterns and dynamic reflections of light.
Art Glass enhances the dramatic appeal of accent or specialty windows. They can also be used as transoms or side lites. With endless design possibilities, the ability to reflect personal taste and style is optimized.
